RIPTA PROVIDES STATE OF THE AUTHORITY REPORT TO LEGISLATORS

October 28, 2013

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) recently provided a detailed “State of the Authority” report to Governor Lincoln Chafee, the leadership and members of the General Assembly.  This interim report is designed to update state leadership on the changes that have
been implemented at RIPTA so far.

The report addresses RIPTA’s Budget, their financial situation, as well as Human
Resource and Personnel improvements and the Authority’s priorities for the near future.  Positive changes, including the reduction of the budget deficit by $5 million, are highlighted in the document.

With the changes that have been implemented and the additional changes that will be made in the future with the support of the General Assembly, RIPTA will be in a position to provide the highest level of service to our riders.

RIPTA, the State’s Mobility Manager, operates over 3,000 daily bus trips on over 50 bus routes throughout the state. Last year, we provided 20 million rides.  RIPTA also offers passenger van “Flex” services in areas not served by fixed-route bus service. For more information on schedules or other RIPTA services, please call 401- 781-9400 or visit ripta.com.
