RIPTA TO DETOUR SIX ROUTES IN PROVIDENCE MONDAY, JUNE 27, 2016 WHILE EAST SIDE TUNNEL IS CLOSED FOR ROAD REPAIRS

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour six routes in Providence on Monday, June 27, 2016, while the East Side Tunnel is closed for road repair work.  Routes 1, 35, 40, 49, 78, and 92 will be detoured from 6:30 am until 3:30 pm.

The detours will be as follows:  

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

All outbound (northbound) trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the Thayer Street end of the tunnel.

All inbound (southbound) trips will travel the regular route to Thayer and Angell Streets, turn right onto Angell Street, continue through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street next to the Brown Bookstore.

Route 35 (Rumford):

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the Thayer Street end of the tunnel.

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Thayer and Angell Streets, continue on Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street next to the Brown Bookstore.

Route 40 (Butler/Elmgrove):

Please refer to the Route 35 (Rumford detour).

Route 49 (Camp Street):

Please refer to the Route 35 (Rumford detour).

Route 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.):

Please refer to the Route 35 (Rumford detour).

Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):
