The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-six bus routes in the Providence area on Sunday, May 1, 2016 in order to accommodate the Providence Rhode Races.   Routes 1, 6, 17, 19, 27, 21, 27, 28, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 50, 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 66, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured from the first trip of the day until 3:30pm.  Bus stops will be temporarily relocated during this time.  Exchange Terrace and Memorial Boulevard will be closed for the duration of the race.

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Southbound trips from Pawtucketwill travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C. Trips will then travel the regular route.

Northbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Dorrance and Weybosset Streets, right onto Lower Weybosset through to Exchange Street, left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C, then turn right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Empire Street, right onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Park Row, right onto Canal Street, left onto Washington Street through to the East Side Tunnel, resume regular route to Hope Street and Pidge Avenue, left onto Pidge Avenue, right onto Pawtucket Avenue through to George Street and then resume regular route.

Route 6 (Prairie Ave./RWP Zoo):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to East Franklin and Broad Street, right onto Broad Street, continue to Weybosset Street through to Lower Weybosset to Exchange Street, and then left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop B.

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop B via a right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Washington and Dorrance Streets, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop E.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster):

Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.

Route 21 (Reservoir Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Rte. 10 North, right at the Dean Street Exit, right onto Dean Street, left onto Atwells Avenue, left onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop I.

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a left onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Fountain and DorranceStreets and then turn left onto Sabin Street. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the Convention Center.  

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford Ave):

Please refer to the Route #27 (Broadway/Manton Ave.) detour.

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to the Dean Street Exit, right at the Dean Street Exit, left onto Dean Street, right onto West Exchange Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Mathewson Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop A.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Empire Street, right onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto the Rte. 10 on-ramp, and then resume regular route.

Route 31 (Cranston St.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside):

Inbound trips will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right off the Exit 22 off-ramp, right onto Francis Street, and then right onto Sabin Street to Bus Stop G.

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street, turn left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence):

Inbound trips will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right off the Exit 22 off-ramp, right onto Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, and then left onto Mathewson Street.  Passengers will be picked off and dropped off on Fountain Street at Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will leave via Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, and then travel onto the I-95 South on-ramp through to I-195 East.

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Mathewson Street, and then left onto Fountain Street. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Fountain Street at temporary Bus Stop F.

Outbound tripswill leave Fountain Street, turn left onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp to I-195 East, take the South Broadway Exit, left onto Warren Avenue, left onto Broadway through to North Broadway, and then resume regular route.

Route 50 (Douglas Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis and Sabin Streets and then take a right onto Sabin Street. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off at the Convention Center.

Outbound trips will leave via Sabin Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 51 (Charles Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Smith and Canal Streets, turn right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop J.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 52 (Branch Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of North Main and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, and then left onto Mathewson Street.  Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Fountain Street at temporary Bus Stop Z.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the Atwells Avenue Exit, left onto Atwells Avenue, left onto Broadway, left onto Fountain Street, and then left onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop Y. 

Outbound trips will leave via Sabin Street, take a right onto Atwells Avenue, right onto the I-95 North onramp through to Rte. 146, and then resume regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral Street/Providence College):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis and Sabin Streets, turn right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to Bus Stop W.  

Outbound trips will leave via a left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then right onto Sabin Street to Bus Stop G.

Outbound trips will leave via a left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith Street):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to Bus Stop W.

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street via a left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound trips will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right off the Exit 22 off-ramp, through to Francis Street, and then right onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop Y.  

Outbound trips will leave Sabin Street, turn left onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto the I-195 S on-ramp through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop Z.

Outbound trips will leave Providence via Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South, and then resume regular route.

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Canal and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Empire Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to Bus Stop J.

Outbound trips will leave Fountain Street, turn left onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Streets, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Mathewson Street, and then left onto Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will leave via Fountain Street, left onto Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Park Row, right onto Canal Street, left onto Washington Street through the East Side Tunnel, and then resume regular route.

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side) WEST:

Inbound trips leaving Rhode Island College to East Side Market will travel the regular route to Fountain Street to temporary Bus Stop D. Passengers will be picked off and dropped off at the temporary bus stop.  Trips will then turn left onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, right onto Canal Street, left onto Washington Street into the East Side Tunnel and then resume regular route to Wickenden Street. Trips will terminate at Fox Point Manor. Trips will not service East Side Market.

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side) EAST:

Inbound trips leaving from Fox Point Manor to Kennedy Plaza will travel the regular route to Ives Street, left onto Ives Street, left onto Trenton Street, left onto Governor Street, right onto Wickenden Street, resume regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, and then right onto Sabin Street to temporary Bus Stop I, right onto Atwells Avenue, and then resume regular route.

R-Line (Broad/North Main):

Southbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of North Main and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop A. Trips will then travel the regular route to Broad Street.

Northbound trips will travel the regular route to temporary Bus Stop F on Fountain Street, turn left onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route.
