The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-two bus routes in the Providence area on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in order to accommodate the Rock n’ Roll Marathon.   The detours are in effect from the first trip of the day until noon; five routes will remain on detour until 4:00pm.  Francis Street will be closed until 4:00pm for an outdoor post-race block party. 

The following routes will detour from the first trip of the day until noon:

Routes 1, 3, 19, 20, 22, 30, 33, 34, 35, 42, 52, 54, 60, 66, 72, 78, 92, 99

The following routes will detour from first trip of day until 4:00pm:

Routes 50, 55, 56 and 57.

Detours are as follows:

Route 1 (Eddy Street)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Richmond and Point Streets, left onto Point Street, right onto East Franklin Street through to Dave Gavit Way, right onto Washington Street, and then into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop K.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Service Road No. 7, left onto Point Street, right onto Richmond Street through to Eddy Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 3 (Warwick Avenue)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Richmond and Point Streets, left onto Point Street, right onto East Franklin Street through to Dave Gavit Way, right onto Washington Street, and then into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop N. 

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Service Road No. 7, left onto Point Street, right onto Richmond Street through to Eddy Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster) 

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Washington and Exchange Streets, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop B.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel the regular route.

Route 20 (Elmwood Avenue)  

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Broad Street and Dave Gavit Way, left onto Dave Gavit Way, right onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop A.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel the regular route.

Route 22 (Pontiac Avenue) 

Please refer to the Route 20 (Elmwood Avenue) detour.

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn) 

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Memorial Boulevard and Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop E.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel the regular route to Exchange Street and Exchange Terrace, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the Route 10 on-ramp, and then resume regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside) 

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop G. 

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right onto the I-195 East on-ramp, and then resume its regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence)  

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrance, left onto Dorrance Street and then left into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right onto the I-195 East on-ramp, and then resume its regular route.Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Avenue)  

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Waterman and John Streets, left onto John Street, right onto Taunton Avenue to the 195 West on-ramp to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrance, left onto Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp to 195 East, right onto Taunton Avenue through to Waterman Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 42 (Hope Street)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to East Avenue and Pidge Street, right onto Pidge Street, left onto Pawtucket Avenue to North Main Street, right onto Barbara Leonard Way, right onto West River Street, left onto Ashburton Street through to Charles Street, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right on to the I-95 South on-ramp , right to the Downtown Exit to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then right into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop H.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the North Main Street Exit to Frost Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Pawtucket Avenue, right onto Pidge Street, left onto Hope Street and then resume regular route.

Route 50 (Douglas Avenue) Detour ends at 4:00pm

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will follow the regular route to Douglas and Chalkstone Avenues, left onto the 146 South on-ramp to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop P.  

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices exit, right onto Orms Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 52 (Branch Avenue)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel regular route to Charles and Orms Streets, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the 146 on-ramp to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then continue to Bus Stop Q. 

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right onto 146 North, right at the Branch Avenue exit, left onto Branch Avenue, then resume regular route.Route 54 (Woonsocket)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel regular route to Charles and Orms Streets, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop L.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto Filmore Street, right onto Admiral Street, left onto Charles Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral Street) Detour ends at 4:00pm

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will follow the regular route to Douglas and Chalkstone Avenues, left onto the 146 South on-ramp to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop I. 

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto Admiral Street, right onto Filmore Street, left onto Admiral Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) Detour ends at 4:00pm

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Chalkstone Avenue and Raymond Street, right onto Raymond Street through to Dean Street, left onto West Exchange Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Mathewson Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop E.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to West Exchange Street, right onto Dean Street through to Raymond Street, left onto Chalkstone Avenue and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith Street) Detour ends at 4:00pm

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Smith and Oakland Streets, right onto Oakland Street through to Raymond Street through to Dean Street, left onto West Exchange Street, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Mathewson Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop O.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to West Exchange Street, right onto Dean Street through to Raymond Street through to Oakland Street, left onto Smith Street and then resume regular route.

Route 60 (Newport)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then travel to Bus Stop Q.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right onto the I-195 East on-ramp, and then resume its regular route.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Francis Street through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, and then travel to Bus Stop D.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel the regular route.

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel regular route to Charles and Orms Streets, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then continue on to Bus Stop Q. 

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, to the State Offices exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, and then resume its regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to Waterman and John Streets, left onto John Street, right onto Taunton Avenue to the 195 West on-ramp to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Franci Street, and then  left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop M.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp to 195 East, right onto Taunton Avenue through to Waterman Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 92 (Green Line Trolley)

The trolley will not service East Side Marketplace before noon.

All other trips will run as scheduled.Route 99 (Providence/Pawtucket)

Inbound: Trips traveling into Providence will travel the regular route to North Main Street and Barbara Leonard Way, right onto Barbara Leonard Way, right onto West River Street, left onto Ashburton Street through to Charles Street, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right at the Downtown Exit to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, right into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop F.

Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the North Main Street exit to Frost Street, left onto North Main Street and then resume its regular route.
