RIPTA TO HOLD THIRD ROUND OF COMMUNITY MEETINGS TO DISCUSS COMPREHENSIVE FARE STUDY

September 11, 2015

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will hold its third round of community meetings to solicit feedback from the public on its fare study.  In these sessions, RIPTA will present several fare proposals for consideration.  This is an opportunity for passengers to provide feedback on these proposals and to help RIPTA determine which changes to our fare structure work best for our passengers.  This last round of informal community meetings will be followed by recommendations to the Board of Directors. Formal public hearings will follow if implementation of any change is pursued. RIPTA launched the transit fare study in April in order to review all fare products it offers as well as the rates that are charged. One of the main goals of the study is to determine if RIPTA is offering the types of fare products that best meet passengers’ needs. Passengers are encouraged to attend one of the following community meetings. COMMUNITY MEETINGSTuesday, September 22, 2015 • 11am – 12pmWoonsocket City Hall, 2nd Floor Conference Room, 169 Main Street, Woonsocket, RI Tuesday, September 22, 2015 • 5pm – 6pmURI Memorial Union Atrium, 50 Lower College Road, Kingston, RI 02881 Thursday, September 24, 2015 • 11am – 12pm The Commerce Center at The Providence Foundation, 30 Exchange Terrace, Providence , RI Thursday, September 24, 2015 • 5:30pm – 6:30pm Burnside Building, 2nd Floor Meeting Room, 400 Hope Street, Bristol, RI For information on the study, please visit http://www.ripta.com/featured-project.Meetings are accessible to persons with disabilities.  RIPTA will provide interpreter services for the deaf and hearing impaired, provided such a request is made at least 72 hours prior to the hearing date.  A request for this service can be made in writing or by calling (401) 784-9500, x209.-30-
