Service Alert: Westbound Washington Bridge Closing Details >>

UPDATED 3:30PM -RIPTA CONTINUES TO RESTORE SERVICE AS CONDITIONS ALLOW BEGINNING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2013

February 10, 2013

Providence, Rhode Island, February 11, 2013 — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that bus service will be reinstated beginning with the first trip of the day on Monday, February 11, 2013.  However, heavily accumulated snow in some areas and unplowed snow on secondary roads, make it difficult for RIPTA vehicles to travel safely.  As a result, twenty-one RIPTA bus routes will be on detour beginning with the first trip on Monday, February 11, 2013; those routes are listed below. RIPTA will continue to restore service on those routes as conditions allow. Passengers are encouraged to check www.RIPTA.com for updates throughout the day.  Riders should expect some delays on all routes due to post-storm conditions and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops.

RIPTA has been working closely with emergency officials to determine when it is safe to resume service. The safety of our employees and passengers is RIPTA’s top priority. RIPTA apologizes for the inconvenience and asks for the public’s understanding as we work around the clock to resume service.
