UPDATED 7:30 AM – RIPTA PLANS NORMAL SERVICE AFTER APRIL SNOWSTORM

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is not expecting major detours on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, following a persistent snowstorm Monday that deposited up to eight inches of snow in some parts of the state.  As of 7:15 a.m.,  two routes had detours and street supervisors were checking road conditions throughout the state. Riders may experience some delays and are advised to use caution at bus stops due to slippery conditions.Passengers are strongly advised to monitor news reports, check www.RIPTA.com and RIPTA’s social media outlets (Facebook @RideRIPTA, Twitter @RIPTA_RI) for service advisory updates.  RIPTA urges passengers to sign up for electronic News Updates at http://www.ripta.com/detours-news; RIPTA will e-mail system disruption notices to passengers on this distribution list.The following routes are on detour:Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):Service to Hillcrest Apartments suspended.Route 87 (Fairmount/Walnut Hill)Service to Morin Heights suspended.
