The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour nineteen bus routes and temporarily relocate Bus Stop Q in the downtown Providence area on Sunday, September 22, 2013 in order to accommodate the CVS/Pharmacy Downtown 5K Road Race.   Francis Street will be closed from 6:00am until 2:30pm.

Route 50 (Douglas Ave.), Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket), Route 55 (Admiral St.), Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.) and Route 57 (Smith Street) will detour beginning with the first trip of the day until 2:30pm.  The rest of the routes listed will be detoured from 10:45am to 1:00pm.  All RIPTA bus lines are to expect minor delays around Kennedy Plaza between 11:00am and 2:30pm.

While this detour is in effect, Bus Stop Q in Kennedy Plaza will be temporarily relocated.  Route 52(Branch/Bryant University) and Route 60 (Providence/Newport) will be relocated to Bus Stop P and Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls) will be temporarily relocated to Bus Stop L. 

The following routes will detour from the first trip of the day until 2:30pm:

Routes 50, 54, 55, 56, and 57

The following routes will detour from 10:45am to 1:00pm:

Routes 1, 3, 30, 33, 34, 35, 42, 52, 60, 66, 72, 78, 92 and 99

Route 1 (Eddy/Gaspee)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, left onto Service Road, left onto Point Street, right onto Richmond Street through to Eddy Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 3 (Warwick Ave.)

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular routeto Rte. 10 and the Dean Street Exit, right onto Dean Street, left onto Atwells Avenue, left onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a right onto Dorrance Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto  Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto Rte. 10 and then resume regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to I-195 West through to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit,right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South, right onto I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence)

Route 35 (Rumford)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Angell and Gano Streets, left onto Gano Street, right onto the I-195 West on-ramp through to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp,    right onto I-195 East, right at the Gano Street Exit, left onto India Point through to Gano Street, right onto Waterman Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 42 (Hope Street)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection ofHope Street and Doyle Avenue, right onto Doyle Avenue, right onto North Main Street, left onto Barbara Leonard Way, right onto West River Street, right onto  Charles Street, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the Rte. 146 South on-ramp through to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop “H.”

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Barbara Leonard Way, right onto North Main Street, left onto Hope Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 50 (Douglas Ave.)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to Douglas Avenue and then travel onto the Route 146S on-ramp, left onto Route 146S to I-95S, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop “P.”

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices Exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 52 (Branch/Bryant University)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Orms Streets, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the Route 146 South on-ramp to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to the temporary stop at Bus Stop “P.”

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street and then resume regular route.

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket)

Inbound trips into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Orms Streets, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the Route 146S on-ramp to I-95S, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the

I-95N on-ramp, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Charles Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral St.)

Routes 56 (Chalkstone Ave.)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Raymond Street, right onto Raymond Street through to Valley Street, left onto West Exchange, right onto Sabin Street, left onto

Mathewson Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza to Bus Stop “E.”

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street,left onto Exchange Terrace through to West Exchange, right onto Valley Street through to Raymond Street, left onto Chalkstone Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith St.)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Smith and Raymond Streets, right onto Raymond Street through to Valley Street, left onto West Exchange, right onto Sabin Street, left onto Mathewson Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace through to West Exchange, right onto Valley Street through to Raymond Street, left onto Smith Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to I-195 West and South Main Street Exit, continue on I-195 West through to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street into Kennedy Plaza to the temporary Bus Stop “P.”

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Francis Street and Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a right onto DorranceStreet, right onto Washington Street, left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange

Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South, and then resume regular route.

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Orms Streets, right onto Orms Street,right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the Rte. 146 South on-ramp through to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto FrancisStreet through toDorrance Street, left into Kennedy Plaza to the temporary Bus Stop “L.”

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 North, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.)

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of Pitman and Gano Streets, left onto Gano Street, right onto 195-W through to I-95N, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, and then travel into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95S to I-195E, right at the India Street Exit, left onto India Street, right onto Gano Street, right onto Pitman Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 99 (North Main/Pawtucket)

Inbound trips traveling into downtown Providence will travel the regular route to the intersection of North Main Street and Barbara Leonard Way, right onto Barbara Leonard Way, right onto West River Street, right onto Charles Street, left onto Ashburton Street through to Charles Street, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, right onto the Rte. 146 South on-ramp through to I-95 South, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, and then left Into Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips leaving downtown Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 North, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto West River Street, right onto Barbara Leonard Way, left onto North Main Street, and then resume regular route.
