LIBERTY TAX, RIPTA HOST “STUFF THE BUS” COAT DRIVE AT P-BRUINS GAME JANUARY 24

January 2, 2014

The Providence Bruins announced today that Liberty Tax and RIPTA will be hosting a “Stuff The Bus” Coat Drive at their home game on Friday, January 24 to benefit the Providence Corps of the Salvation Army.

Coat collections will begin on Thursday, January 2 at participating Liberty Tax offices in Providence, Woonsocket, East Providence, Middletown, Bristol, Pawtucket, Central Falls, Seekonk, Coventry, North Providence, Smithfield and Warwick and will continue through Friday, January 24.

The Providence Bruins, Liberty Tax and RIPTA will also collect coats at the P-Bruins game against the St. John’s Icecaps on Friday, January 24. Starting at 5:00pm, fans will have the opportunity to drop off their coats at a RIPTA Shuttle Bus parked in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in downtown Providence. Fans bringing coats will get to have their pictures taken with Liberty Tax’s giant Statue of Liberty mascot.

“It was a great joy when Liberty Tax’s Steven DeMedeiros asked me to help with their coat drive. That morning, as I looked out my window, I could see many homeless people who had come for our meal program, standing outside, cold and exhausted from the winter weather,” said Major Robert Kountz, Corps Commander of the Providence Salvation Army Citadel. “In fact, that very day we just purchased 500 hats, gloves and scarves to distribute to people to help them stay warm this winter. We’re thrilled to have the Providence Bruins, RIPTA and Liberty Tax collect coats for us this Winter.”

“RIPTA is excited to partner with the Providence Bruins, Liberty Tax and the Salvation Army for their coat drive,” said Dan Bannister, RIPTA Marketing & Outreach Manager. “It’s definitely nice to help give the gift of a warm jacket during this winter season.”

Liberty Tax will have 15 “Statue of Liberty” Wavers at the game on Friday, January 24 – one for each Rhode Island office and hand out 1,500 Statue of Liberty crowns to P-Bruins fans that night.

The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Friday, January 3 at 7:05pm against the Worcester Sharks. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a poster courtesy of J & R Marketing. For tickets to this game or any other P-Bruins home games visit www.providencebruins.com.
