The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that eightroutes are on detour today, Friday, January 5, 2018 due to winter weather conditions. Routes 1, 6, 27, 29, 49, 56,  65X and 92 are currently on detour. Riders may expect some delays on all routes due to winter weather effects and are advised to use extreme caution at bus stops due slippery conditions.

The following routes are on detour:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Southbound trips will travel the regular route to Hope and Olney Streets, right onto Olney Street, take first left making a u-turn onto North Main Street, continue on Canal Street to Kennedy Plaza and then resume regular route. Northbound trips will travel the regular route to Broad and Eddy Streets, continue onto Broad Street, right onto Jillson Street, left onto Eddy Street and then resume regular route.   

Route 6 (Prairie/Roger William Park Zoo): 

Service to CCRI suspended.

All trips will remain on Prairie Avenue.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):

Service to Hillcrest Apartments suspended.

Route 29 (Cowesset/Kent County):

Service to Highland Avenue suspended. Trips will travel on Main Street, turn right onto Pleasant Street, left onto Main Street and then resume regular route.

Route 49 (Camp Street)

All service suspended.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):

Trips will not service the Providence VA Medical Center at their request until further notice. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Chalkstone Avenue.

Route 65X

Service to the Rte. 1 and 138 Park N’ Ride lot suspended.

Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side):

Eastbound trips will travel the regular route to Kennedy Plaza, continue onto Washington Street to the East Side Tunnel, turn right onto Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, right onto Ives Street, left onto Pitman Street and then resume regular route. Westbound trips will travel the regular route to Pitman and Gano Streets, right onto Gano Street, left onto Angell Street, left onto Thayer Street, right at the East Side Tunnel to South Main Street/North Main Street, left onto Steeple Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Fulton Street and then resume regular route.
