The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 50, 56, 57 in Providence on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Routes 56 and 57 will be on detour from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm to accommodate the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Route 50 will be on detour from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The following route detours will be in effect on Saturday, March 9, 2019:
Route 50 (Douglas Avenue) DETOUR ENDS AT 3PM:
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Douglas and Orms Streets, left onto Orms Street, right onto Charles Street to Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street to Exchange Terrace, left onto Dorrance Street, and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard onto I-95 North, right at the State Offices Exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue and then resume the regular route.
Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):
Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Chalkstone and Oakland Avenues, take a right onto Oakland Avenue to Pleasant Valley Parkway through to Dean Street, left onto Atwells Avenue, left onto Broadway, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Terrace, continue onto Sabin Street, turn right onto West Exchange, right onto Dean Street to Pleasant Valley Parkway to Oakland Avenue, left onto Chalkstone Avenue and then resume the regular route.
Route 57 (Smith Street)
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith and Eaton Streets, left onto Eaton Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right at the Atwells Avenue Exit, left onto Atwells Avenue to LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, and then right onto Dorrance to the Bus Stop V in Kennedy Plaza.
Outbound trips will leave Kennedy Plaza via a left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the State Offices Exit, right onto Orms Street, right onto Douglas Avenue, left onto Eaton Street, right onto Smith Street, and then resume the regular route.
