The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule on Thursday, July 4, 2019, in observance of the Fourth of July. The Sunday/Holiday schedule will apply to all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys. RIPTA Offices in Kennedy Plaza, RIde Reservation Office, and Flex Reservation Office will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019 in celebration of the holiday.
In addition, RIPTA will detour Route 60 (Providence/Newport) on Thursday, July 4, 2019 to accommodate the Bristol Fourth of July Parade. The detour will be in effect from 7:00am to 3:00pm on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
Route 60 (Providence/Newport) Detour
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will operate their regular route to the intersection of Rte. 114 and Gooding Avenue in Bristol, and then turn left onto Gooding Avenue, right onto Metacom Avenue, bear left at the merge onto Rte. 114, and then resume regular route.
Inbound: Trips into downtown Providence will travel their regular route to Rte. 114 and Rte. 136, and then turn right at onto Rte. 136 (Metacom Avenue), left onto Gooding Avenue, right onto Rte. 114, and then resume regular route.
The Walmart Cranston Shopper Route
The Walmart Cranston Shopper (formerly known as the Route 30 Brewery Parkade Shuttle), which normally operates only on Thursdays, will operate on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 instead.
Kennedy Plaza
RIPTA offices, including the Photo Identification and Ticket Sales Offices in the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center, will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, the official state holiday.
RIde and Flex Services
The statewide RIde Program will operate only ADA trips on Thursday, July 4th. The Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) and the RIde reservation line (461-9760) will not be staffed on Thursday. RIPTA Flex Services will not be available on July 4th, except for Route 210 (Kingston Flex Service), which will run on the holiday schedule. Regular service for both RIde and Flex will resume on Friday, July 5, 2019.
