Due to the East Side Tunnel closure for the repaving of North Main Street, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Routes 1 (Hope/Eddy), 33 (Riverside), 34 (East Providence) and 60 (Providence/Newport).   Route 60 will be on detour from 8PM to 6AM on Sunday, October 15, 2017. Routes 1, 33, 34 and 60 will be on detour from 8PM to 6AM on Monday, October 16, 2017. While the detour is in effect, passengers who normally board these routes at either end of the tunnel, should board either in Kennedy Plaza or in front of Starbucks on Thayer Street. 

The routes will detour as follows from 8PM to 6AM:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Northbound trips will travel the regular route to left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Onley Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route.

Southbound trips will travel the regular route to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, left onto Brook Street through to Hope Street, left onto Onley Street, right onto North Main Street, left at the jug handle, left onto North Main Street through to Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Angell Street, left onto Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, left onto Brook Street through to Hope Street, left onto Olney Street, right onto North Main Street, left at the jug handle, left onto North Main Street through to Canal Street, right onto Steeple Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence):

Please refer to the Route 33 (Riverside) detour.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West, continue onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop Y.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
