RIPTA has more than 3,500 bus stops across the state which gives passengers their first experience with our service. In 2017, RIPTA released a bus stop design guide (link to document) which details our expectations for stop accessibility, comfort, and layout. RIPTA will be undertaking a complete audit of all current stops to take note of accessibility issues, safety concerns, and passenger amenity needs. Following the audit, we will develop a capital program to make identified accessibility improvements and targeted passenger amenity investments. This program of work also includes a complete redesign and installation of new bus stop signage across the network, making it easier for both current and potential riders to navigate RIPTA.
