To help us reach a goal of zero or near-zero emissions, RIPTA contracted Gladstein Neandross Associates (GNA) to assess the opportunities and implications of fleet conversion. GNA also developed a long-term sustainability strategy and provided a technical assessment of commercially-available technologies and their ability to meet our operational needs. They analyzed battery-electric, fuel cell, and natural gas buses, and evaluated eight scenarios (to one or a combination of alternative technologies) against a baseline diesel scenario for cost and emissions over a 30-year timeframe.
