The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour four routes in Providence on Saturday, October 26, 2019, while the East Side Tunnel is closed for routine maintenance and repair work. Routes 1, 32, 33 and 34 will be detoured from 6am until 2pm.
The detours for Routes 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit), 32 (East Providence/Wampanoag), 33 (Riverside) and 34 (East Providence) will be as follows:
Routes 1, 32, 33, and 34:
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets, continue onto Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street next to the Brown Bookstore.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Washington and North Main Streets, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on North Main Street in front of the Baptist Church and on Thayer Street in front of Starbucks.
