The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour seven bus routes to accommodate the Providence Winter Festival. The East Approach Trolley Pavilion will be closed to traffic on all day and night on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1, 2018. Routes 27, 28, 49, 56, 57, 60 and 62 will be detoured beginning with the first trip of the day on Friday through Saturday night. Bus Stops V, W and Y will be temporarily relocated during this time.
The following detours will be in effect on November 30 and December 1:
Route 27 (Broadway/Manton):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street to the temporary Bus Stop V next to the Kennedy Plaza building.
Outbound trips will leave Washington Street, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, continue onto Sabin Street, and then resume regular route.
Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford):
Please refer to the Route 27 (Broadway/Manton) detour.
Route 49 (Camp Street/Miriam Hospital:
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Steeple Street through to Exchange Terrace to temporary Bus Stop Y on Exchange Terrace.
Outbound trips will leave Exchange Terrace, turn right onto Francis St., right onto Memorial Boulevard and then resume regular route.
Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street to the temporary Bus Stop V next to the Kennedy Plaza building.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street, then take a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route.
Route 57 (Smith Street):
Please refer to the Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) detour.
Route 60 (Providence/Newport):
Please refer to the Route 49 (Camp Street/Miriam Hospital) detour.
Route 62 (URI/Providence Station):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Eddy Street through to Memorial Boulevard, left onto Westminster Street, and then right onto Exchange Street to Stillman Street.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
