The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour seven routes in Providence on Monday, November 23, 2015, while the East Side Tunnel is closed for repaving. Routes 1, 35, 40, 49, 61X, 78, and 92 will be detoured from 5am until Midnight.
The detours for Routes 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit), 35 (Rumford), 40 (Butler/Elmgrove), 49 (Camp Street), 61X (Tiverton/East Bay), 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.) and 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side) will be as follows:

All outbound (northbound) trips will travel the regular route to North Main Street and the East Side Tunnel, trips will then turn left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on North Main Street in front of the First Baptist Church and the temporary bus stop at Starbucks on Thayer Street.
All inbound (southbound) trips will travel their usual routes to Thayer and Angell Streets and then use Angell and Steeple Streets to return to their regular routes. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street next to the Brown Bookstore.
