The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will hold its third round of community meetings to solicit feedback from the public on its fare study. In these sessions, RIPTA will present several fare proposals for consideration. This is an opportunity for passengers to provide feedback on these proposals and to help RIPTA determine which changes to our fare structure work best for our passengers. This last round of informal community meetings will be followed by recommendations to the Board of Directors. Formal public hearings will follow if implementation of any change is pursued. RIPTA launched the transit fare study in April in order to review all fare products it offers as well as the rates that are charged. One of the main goals of the study is to determine if RIPTA is offering the types of fare products that best meet passengers’ needs. Passengers are encouraged to attend one of the following community meetings.
