The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced today their Commuter Resource RI (CRRI) Program has partnered with NuRide to offer rewards to Rhode Island residents for reducing their carbon footprint.
NuRide, the nation’s largest commuter rewards program, was developed to encourage people to choose healthier and greener transportation options. NuRide is a free service and is supported by sponsors who provide special offers to NuRide members for taking greener trips and reducing global warming, traffic congestion and energy consumption. From riding RIPTA or taking the train, to walking, carpooling, vanpooling, biking, and even telecommuting, this program offers individuals the opportunity to receive points that can be accumulated and then redeemed for retail discounts, restaurant coupons, and tickets to shows and attractions.
Through NuRide, commuters can learn how reducing single occupancy car rides can help them save money and earn points that can be redeemed for rewards from local, regional, and national restaurants, retailers, and events. Current local sponsors include URI Boss Arena, Providence Bruins, P.F. Changs, Vanity Supper Club, Opulence Tan & Body Works, Modern Tailor, and Rock Spot Climbing.
NuRide participants earn multiple benefits to joining the program:
• Save money on transportation costs
• Travel together in a carpool or vanpool
• Cut greenhouse gas emissions
• Trim carbon footprint
• Reduce traffic congestion in the community or the worksite
• Get rewards for tracking a green trip
